Terms of Use

Effective 1 January 2026.

About this service

This independent information website is operated by Sortwalnutstarada Marine Media Ltd, 36 George Street, Edinburgh EH2 2LE, United Kingdom, company no. SC784219. Questions may be sent to [email protected].

These terms apply to use of the website and its local enquiry-preparation tool. If you do not accept them, do not use the service.

Information, not operational instruction

Content explains documentary camera technology and production methods. It is not professional dive training, medical advice, engineering certification, a risk assessment or a substitute for current manufacturer instructions. No page establishes a universal safe depth, exposure setting or operational method.

Use qualified personnel, obtain required permissions and follow applicable laws and site rules. Do not use an image-making objective to override safety, animal welfare or environmental protection. Diagrams are simplified explanations and are not equipment specifications.

Accuracy and independent references

We aim to make the reference useful and accurate, but equipment, firmware, regulations and external sources can change. Verify material decisions against current primary documentation. We may correct, revise or remove content without notice.

Product names, documentary titles and third-party links are used for identification and context. We are not affiliated with or endorsed by the manufacturers, filmmakers, regulators or organisations mentioned unless expressly stated. External sites are independently operated, and we do not control their availability or content.

Permitted use and intellectual property

You may read and link to the site and make reasonable personal reference copies. Original site text and diagrams are protected by applicable intellectual-property law. Further reproduction, redistribution or commercial reuse requires permission unless a statutory exception applies. Third-party names, images and materials remain subject to their respective rights.

Do not disrupt the service, attempt unauthorised access, introduce malicious code or use the contact channel for unlawful, abusive or deceptive messages.

Local tools and correspondence

The contact ledger prepares plain text locally. Copying or downloading does not send an enquiry, create a service contract or guarantee a reply. Check your text before sending it through your own email service. You remain responsible for the information you provide and the permissions needed to share it.

Liability

To the extent permitted by law, the site is provided without a guarantee of uninterrupted availability or suitability for a particular production. We are not responsible for decisions made solely from general website information or for losses that applicable law permits us to exclude.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, death or personal injury caused by negligence, or any other liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

Law and contact

These terms are governed by Scots law, subject to any mandatory protections and jurisdiction rights that apply to you. Please contact us first about a concern. Our privacy notice explains personal-information handling.
